Work Shop5 Half Hitch Sep 20 Written By Yoko Onishi How to wrap a Stone by using a macrame technique called ” half hitch” How to wrap a stone Preparation Flat StoneWaxed CordScissorsmacrame table or binder(something to hold main cords) Step 1 ✵Choose a stone I used a stone with a circumference of 13cm.✵Cut four cordsCord A & B 50cm each: main cords that your knots will wrap around it Working Cords C & D 100cm each: working cords to make the knots. Step 2 Set Four cords on the working table or Binding board.Leave 15 cm hanging off of one side. Step 3 make a half hitch knot around cord B using cord C Step 4 Make a second half hitch knot around cord B using cord C First whole knot on cord B is done. Step 5 Make a first half hitch knot on cord A using cord D.(same way as step 3 & 4, just opposite ) Step 6 Cross The cords C & D under the cords A & B. Step 7 Repeat Step 3 , 4 by using cord D Step 8 Repeat step 5 by using cord C Step 9 Keep repeating step 3-8 Step 10 take the cords off the table/board Step 11 Check it if you’ve got enough length of knots to go around the stone. Step 12 Start to tie it on the back of the stone first.take cord A from both side of the belt that you just made Step 13 Keep holding the cords A, take one of cord C or D (depending on which you see would work).start making a first half hitch knot on cords A by using cord C or D. Step 14 Make a second half hitch knot Step 15 Gently, tie it by pulling on cords A. Step 16 make another knot by using the other one of cord C or D Step 17 Turn the stone around to front side.Find two end of cord B Step 18 Find two cords from C or D that are available (not the ones that you used on the back side) Step 19 Start by making flat knots around cords B by using the two cords C or D. Check my previous workshop for “Flat Knot” previous workshop journal Step20 Flat Knots for about 2 cm. Step 21 bend it to the back of the stone to make a loop Step 22 tie the loop (from step 21) with few flat knots by using four cords C & D (two on each side) until it’s tied enough to hold the stone Step 23 Cut off all left over cords leaving few mm left Step 24 burn the end of cords Yoko Onishi
